Wetherby Races

{racingfixtures|Wetherby}
The Yorkshire countryside is often considered some of the most beautiful in the United Kingdom, and the classic sport of National Hunt Racing is invested with traditions of grace, power, skill and passion, making it one of the few sports deserving of such beauty. At Wetherby Races these elements come together at the marvellous grounds of the racecourse which is set amidst 300 acres of Yorkshire’s best countryside.

Wetherby Races, inside rail There is something special and charming about steeple-chase racing which many find lacking in the more widely found flat racing. Aside from the specific traditions which gave rise to National Hunt Racing, it is a sport surrounded by those who like to sample the finer bits of British heritage and life.

At Wetherby Races you’ll not only have the chance to lay a wager or two, but you’ll be able to enjoy the spectacle in perfectly complementary surrounds which speak of the British tradition of combining the old with the new, where style and luxury sit comfortably aside the scent of saddle leather and sawdust.

The season is always an exciting one, boasting some of the most enticing fixtures in National Hunt Racing.

The Charlie Hall Meeting is always well attended by fans from near and far and the Christmas Meeting is something of grand occasion where people not only get to enjoy the sight of the sport’s finest thoroughbreds thrusting towards the finishing post, but can enjoy a truly festive atmosphere and share in the ubiquitous good food and wine.

Not only it the region’s premier track for jump fixtures, but it has some of the best facilities of any British course and the kind of hospitality which aims to lift any experience out of the ordinary. Although the course has been hosting racing since the 19th century, it has been subject to continual refurbishment, and is now a wonderful place of modern luxury and convenience, although integrated in a way which highlights and celebrates its heritage. Racegoers will have wonderful, capacious and versatile facilities to meet their specific needs, and can relax in one of the many Wetherby hotels nearby overnight if required.

Those who opt for a Premier Enclosure ticket, will have access to the spectacular views of the winning post from the Millennium Stand, a covered area of the impressive Grandstand. Premier badge holders will also have exclusive access to the White Rose Restaurant. Located on the third level of the Millennium Stand, the lovely eatery supplies enviable views of the Parade Ring and Winners’ Enclosure.

Tables are available for groups of up to 12 persons and, for an additional fee of £5 per person, the table can be pre-booked, which means that it’s yours for the day. And, of course, the food is certainly worth taking time to savour. The chefs of the racecourse have a sterling reputation for creating delightful dishes, whether it be for the sophisticated yet convivial atmosphere of the White Rose, The Bramham Hall Cafe & Bistro or the excellent catering which is available to those who make use of the racecourse’s excellent meeting, banqueting and conferencing facilities.

More delicious food and desirable vantages over the ever-exciting action, are to be found in the luxurious private suites. There are two kinds of suites, all of which are to be found on the loftier floors of the Millennium Stand. For groups of 16 to 250, there is the option to have a private suite with balcony which looks onto the track, with particularly good views of the finishing post. These are ideal for entertaining friends, colleagues or just about any group of people who would appreciate the exclusivity which comes from having a private suite in which to enjoy silver service dining.

The Dine & View suites are more modestly sized and named for the restaurant on the same floor. For parties of up to 12 these are an attractive option. With private balconies and the same spectacular views, these are ideal for many and no less desirable than the bigger suites. Of course, all who book private suites will be given free parking for their guests and VIP admission badges as part of package.

Wetherby Races, photo finish When it comes to larger parties, the Paddock marquee is certainly worth considering for those who would appreciate the being situated close to the parade ring, right at the track side, while having a luxury marquee sized for up to 80 people, and replete with heating, bar and Tote betting facilities.

The racecourse of Wetherby Races is also one of Yorkshire’s premier conference venues. From formal, theatre-style conferences to the full range of business and social gatherings, the services, catering and facilities of the venue are second to none. From exhibitions, dinner-dances and wedding receptions to large, festive parties, the staff and venues of Wetherby Races will be able to meet the needs of the most discerning companies and individuals.

Whether you want to impress clients with some of the finest facilities, food and sheer exhilarating sport in Yorkshire, have a large, formal occasion, or even a small informal one, there is a team of experienced and friendly staff at Wetherby Races waiting to make sure your experience lives up the name they have created. Of course, you might just want to grab a snack and head to the Paddock, en route to the Parade Ring to check which of your favourites looks likely to jump the highest and fastest. Even the first-time race goer can enjoy the fun of placing a bet. For a nominal sum, you’ll find that the real enjoyment comes for having the chance to win.
